Mini Events

Mini events will be held from 6pm-7:20pm and 7:30pm-8:30pm on Friday, April 5th.

Jane Street Estimathon (6pm and 7:30pm) with food!

Doherty Hall 2210

The Estimathon is a mind-bending mixture of math and trivia. In teams, you'll attempt 13 Fermi problems in 30 minutes, ranging from totally trivial to positively Putnamesque. Be prepared to come up with the best set of confidence intervals! Sample problems include:

How many stop signs are in New York City?

How many babies were born in 1900?

How many Social Security Numbers are prime?

Jump Trading Colonel Blotto (6pm)

Wean Hall 7500

Colonel Blotto is a game in which players have a fixed amount of resources and are trying to win in a battlefield against the enemy. See this excerpt for an example game.

Five Rings Trading Integration Bee (6pm)

Participants will be given a number of integration problems, with the ability to submit their answers and see a live leaderboard with everyone's score. The test will last ~40 minutes, and the top scorers will be recognized

Mathdash Fun Round (7:30 pm)

This is a fun two-person team based MathDash round to get ready for the main contest tomorrow! Race to solve problems live and see the scoreboard update in real time. The top three teams will win MathDash premium for a month and gift cards!

SIG Brainteaser Battle (7:30 pm)

Ruminate while you numerate for a chance to win a prize at SIG’s Brainteaser Battle! A Brainteaser Battle is a puzzle contest, where you will work with others to solve puzzles that feature a unique blend of quantitative reasoning and out-of-the-box thinking. More challenging than your typical sudoku, and more fun than your typical math problem set.
